Expectations at a Glance
Please read through this overview of group expectations for anyone who chooses to participate in groups hosted by Better Days with Alice.
Upon registration, and once all of your questions have been answered, you will be asked to sign an agreement about these participation expectations.
The purpose of this agreement to is maintain the safety and integrity of the workshop, as well as safety for all group members, and aligns with professional guidelines.
Confidentiality
Personal and sensitive information may be shared during these workshops amongst the group members.
Better Days with Alice follows all professional guidelines to maintain workshop confidentiality.
Group members are asked to protect these guidelines by refraining from sharing information about people and interactions within the confidentiality of the workshop with anyone outside of the group.
Better Days cannot guarantee the confidentiality of the group and depends on all group members to adhere to guidelines to protect group confidentiality.
Distractions
Group members are asked to commit to minimize all potential distractions during sessions, and to stay present and engaged.
Group members must be sober when attending session, and cannot be under the influence of any controlled substances, including alcohol and marijuana.
Group members are asked to not bring cellphones and other electronic devices into sessions, not only to maintain confidentiality, but also due to their distracting nature. If a member must have a device with them, they agree it will stay on silent, will not vibrate, and they must agree they will not pull it out or use it during the session unless technology is part of the workshop.
Attendance
Better Days with Alice has carefully curated these workshops to be small in size to promote participation, safety, and a comfortable environment.
Group members are asked to be committed to attending all sessions of this workshop, to create consistency, not only for yourself, but for your fellow group members.
Additionally, group members are asked to commit to being punctual and to stay for the entire session.
Decorum
Group members are asked to commit to behave respectfully toward all group members in order to maintain the safety of group.
Since group members are encouraged to share aspects of their personal identity that are meaningful to them, members are expected to be supportive of this sharing by others.
Aspects of identity that might be discussed include race, ethnicity, language, nationality, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, and socioeconomic status.
Participation
Group members are asked to hold themselves responsible for engaging in meaningful ways throughout each session to maximize benefits from the workshops. However, no one will be pushed to reveal personal information about themselves, and can choose their own level of engagement to maintain safety.
Group members are asked to refrain from having any outside contact with other members of the group, which includes phone, text, email, and social media, until the after the completion of the workshop. If you do have contact with another member, you must tell the group.
Other Conduct
When participating in workshops, group members are asked to refrain from monopolizing time, and may be gently redirected by Alice to allow someone else to share. Similarly, if the content of the share is inappropriate for the group, Alice may gently help the member get back on track. Lastly, please allow Alice to step in if a group member is experiencing intense emotions, and do not attempt to rescue or save them.
The integrity of these workshops hinges on allowing Alice, a mental health professional, to do what they do best - provide high quality therapeutic experiences, and also, for group members to create a safe environment for each other by maintaining expectations and boundaries.
